Deepika Padukone (pronounced [d̪iːpɪkaː pəɖʊkoːɳ]; born 5 January 1986) is an Indian film actress and model. She has established a successful career in Hindi (Bollywood) films, and is cited in the media as one of the most popular and attractive Indian celebrities.
Padukone, the daughter of the badminton player Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and raised in Bangalore. As a teenager she played badminton in national level championships, but left her career in sport to become a fashion model. She soon received offers for film roles, and made her acting debut in 2006 as the titular character of the Kannada film Aishwarya. Padukone then played dual roles in her first Bollywood release—the 2007 blockbuster Om Shanti Om—and won a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.

Brand Coca-Cola, which continues to lag behind its sister brand Thums Up and rival Pepsi in the cola market in India, has roped in actress Deepika Padukone as its face to help boost its market share, two people familiar with the development said. An official aware of the contract details said Coca-Cola will pay Padukone a little less than Rs 4 crore annually in fees.
When contacted, Anirban Das Blah, managing director at celebrity management firm CAA Kwan that represents Padukone, declined comment. A Coca-Cola India spokesperson, too, declined comment on the brand's association with Padukone.
Aishwarya Rai was the previous top woman celebrity associated with Coca-Cola, endorsing the brand for about six years ending 2005. A face of rival Pepsi cola till 2008-09, Padukone will not be allowed to endorse an aerated beverage anywhere else in the world as long as her contract with Coke lasts, the official quoted earlier said.
Padukone, who acted in backto-back blockbusters Chennai Express and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani this year, also endorses Hindustan Unilever's soap Lux Aditya Birla Group's premium Van Heusen Women collection that she has also designed, Tissot watches, Nestle's Nescafe coffee, Garnier skincare brand from L'Oreal and Sony CyberShot digital cameras

Pandukone shares a close bond with her family, and visits them regularly in her hometown of Bangalore. She lives by herself in Prabhadevi, a neighbourhood in Mumbai, and admits to missing the presence of her family there. She says, "I miss them, but luckily I have a life of my own, which keeps me from getting homesick. I wouldn’t want them to uproot their lives from Bengaluru just to be with me." A practicing Hindu, Padukone considers religion to be an important aspect of her life and makes frequent visits to temples and other religious shrines. The journalist Vir Sanghvi, in 2013, described Padukone as "strong, someone who makes up her own mind, [and] has motivation within herself." She is particularly known in the media as a professional, disciplined performer, whose "work takes precedence over everything else." A reviewer for Rediff.com described her personality as "simple," "grounded," and "accessible," and wrote, "She takes criticism in her stride, acknowledges her limitations and strives to work hard at getting better. She handles praise with equal composure." Padukone has maintained a Twitter account since 2009, and launched an official Facebook page in 2013.
Padukone is an active celebrity endorser for several brands and products, including Tissot, Sony Cybershot, Nescafe, Wrigley's Orbit, Maybelline and Pepsi, among others. In 2012, it was reported that Padukone had signed on for an endorsement deal with Garnier worth INR60 million (US$920,000), a record breaking remuneration for an Indian actress.
