María Gabriela de Jesús Isler Morales is a Venezuelan fashion model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Venezuela 2012. Isler was crowned Miss Universe 2013 on November 9, 2013 in Moscow, Russia; she is the third Miss Universe from Venezuela in six years.
María Gabriela Isler was born in the city of Valencia, but has studied and lived in Maracay since she was a little girl. She holds a BA in Management and Marketing. She is 1/4 Swiss and 1/4 German and also holds Swiss citizenship due to her Swiss grandfather from Lausanne. At age of 14 she started modeling as a way to cheer her mother and grandmother up after her aunt passed away. She has been in a relationship with Alberto Figueroa for two and a half years.
Isler represented Venezuela at the Miss Universe 2013 pageant, held on November 9 in Moscow, Russia. She was crowned Miss Universe 2013 by outgoing titleholder, Olivia Culpo of USA. With Isler's win, Venezuela has produced seven victories in the history of the pageant and has won three crowns in their last six attempts since 2008, maintaining its status as the second most successful entity at Miss Universe. After her crowning, Isler was interviewed by CNN en Español, Fox News, EFE agency (Spain), the Associated Press, Reuters, Venevisión and Globovisión (Venezuela), Caracol Televisión (Colombia), MUN2, Pust Gorovyat and Evening Urgant (Russia), NBC's Today, Fox & Friends, Huffpost Live, Live with Kelly and Michael, PIX11 Morning News, Good Day NY, Al Rojo Vivo and Acceso Total (Telemundo), The Lab, and others.
Gabriela Isler started taking flamenco dancing lessons when she was a child, but says that her “real training” began when her niece was born. After finishing her thesis three years ago, Gabriela has regularly helped her sister take care of her daughter, and even considers herself a second mother to the child. Gabriela currently works as a talent on the Venevision TV Network, but considers motherhood the hardest profession in life. Above all else, she values being at home, surrounded by the people she loves.
Maria Gabriela is 5 feet-10 inches tall and brunette. She is a television news anchor for Venevision. Venevision is a television channel owned by the Cisneros business group which has the rights to the Miss Venezuela pageant every year – one of Venezuela’s most-viewed television events of the year. According to the report, she defeated women from Spain, Brazil, Ecuador, and the Philippines in the final round. This was the 61st Miss Universe pageant.
The contest was held in Moscow, and within minutes of the decision to give Isler the win, Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro took to Twitter to comment that her win is a triumph for Venezuela. Venezuela has become known in recent times for turning out beautiful women, as they have won more beauty pageants than any other nation. They have also become known for turning out baseball players and oil. On the nation’s downside, however, they are in a critical state of inflation, financially, where many people in the country find it difficult to have basic needs in their homes.
