Kim Tae Hee was born on 29 March 1980 in Busan, South Korea. She is the second of three children. Kim has an older sister and a younger brother, Lee Wan, who is also an actor and appeared in her television series Stairway to Heaven. Kim moved to Ulsan as a child. She had an average of ‘100′ for all subjects throughout her three years in middle school. She enrolled at Ulsan Girls High School, and later moved to Seoul to attend college.
Kim began her career as a model and in television commercials, and she made her film debut in Last Present. She rose to stardom via her portrayal of the evil stepsister in the popular SBS TV series Stairway to Heaven. Her other TV projects include the supernatural KBS series Forbidden Love and the SBS campus romance Love Story in Harvard. Both series were successful, and for her performance in Forbidden Love she was honoured with the Best Female Newcomer award.
Even though Kim Tae Hee grew up as a tough child, she received perfect scores in all of her classes throughout middle school and was also very popular with the male students. MBC cable TV program "Star Secret" discovered these facts when they pulled up her school records and also learned male students in one of Kim Tae-Hee's high school gym classes would often stand next to the window to see her and scream out her name.
In high school, Kim Tae-Hee picked up the quirky nickname "Headbanger". This nickname came about because she would often study late into the night and in class would nearly drift off into sleep and then quickly snap out of it, resulting in her head making a headbanger motion - popular with heavy metal music fans. Kim Tae-Hee then entered Seoul National University, often mentioned as South Korea's most prestigious and most difficult to enter university, to major in fashion design. The reason she chose this major was that she admired other people who did creative work. During her college days, she was first asked to model for an ad designer who spotted her in the subway station.
Kim Tae Hee attended the press conference of SBS drama "Jang Ok-jeong Lives in Love" held in Ilsan on the 11th. This was her first official event after news about her and Rain broke out in January. She didn't mention his name personally but spoke of him calmly and naturally admitted to seeing him at the moment. She said, "As you all know, we are just getting started. Nothing's changed from the report two months ago". She is coming back for the first time in two years with a drama since MBC "My Princess" on the 8th next month at 9:55PM.
This is your first historical "I am personally not a fan of historicals. I have never watched a certain historical until the end so it was awkward for me. However, I was reading the first to fourth episodes of "Jang Ok-jeong Lives in Love" and I could read it without difficulty. I understood and could concentrate -- I thought I could actually do this".
Kim Tae Hee has been resting after completing filming for SBS drama “Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love.” During this break, a man who claims he is “her real boyfriend” has been stirring up some trouble. This man has been contacting various news stations over the phone with comments such as, “I am Kim Tae Hee’s boyfriend. I want the real truth to be known. Please make her break up with Rain.” He calls every day, and has going around companies saying, “I’m going into business with Kim Tae Hee, so you need to invest.” The man is reported to be in his mid-thirties. Hallyu star Rain, who was recently discharged from military service, has also been experiencing some trouble with female fans, who are outraged that he is dating. In addition to harsh comments online, his agency has been receiving numerous prank calls.
