Sweety Shetty (born on 7 November 1981), better known by her stage name Anushka Shetty is an Indian film actress, who works in the Telugu and Tamil film industries. She made her acting debut in the 2005 Telugu film Super and rose to fame following her performance in Vikramarkudu (2006) which became her first commercial success. She made her debut in Tamil cinema with Rendu (2006). Anushka Shetty was born in Mangalore. Shetty is an ethnic Bunt hailing from the landed Bellipady Uramalu Guthu family. Her parents are Prafulla and A.N. Vittal Shetty. She has two brothers Gunaranjan Shetty and Sai Ramesh Shetty who is a cosmetic surgeon. She attended her schooling in Bangalore. She did her Bachelor of Computer Applications at Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. She was also a yoga instructor and has trained under Yoga Guru Bharat Thakur

Anushka is likely to star in Gautham Menon's next film.We hear that the actress has accepted the offer, but is yet to sign on the dotted line. The project is underway with the director firming up the script and pre-production work going on in full swing. A source close to the actress says, "Anushka has not yet heard the script, but has agreed to go ahead with it as it involves big names like Ajith and Gautham Menon. Currently, she is shooting for Rudrammadevi and Baahubali. She will allot dates for this project during the breaks she gets between these two big-budget films, both of which have her in key roles." Her spokesperson confirmed the development, saying, "Yes, Anushka has been approached by the makers for the Ajith-Gautham film. She has said 'yes' to it, but has not yet officially signed it. Once things fall in place, she's likely to commence shoot for it from March."

Anushka Shetty - described by many as the go-to girl for characterdriven roles. But Anushka dismisses this statement with a 'it all depends on the script' line. She says, "When you get a good script, and the director gives you proper lines, half your job is done. That's how I felt while shooting for Varna." In a chat, the actress shares her experience working on the film, her equation with Arya and why she loves Georgians.

Among the talented beautiful ladies we have, Mangalore siren Anushka Shetty always takes the top place. In the recent days she is getting praised for her acts that benefit producers a lot. But after watching her other day release, we have to say that in another way.

During the audio release function of 'Varna', many biggies have praised Anushka for her dedication and producer-friendly moves. People like Bandla Ganesh said she is darling of producers as she is more committed to her work and enables producers to mint money with her mere screen presence. But in reality, Anushka has made a huge sacrifice by accepting a project like 'Varna'. No doubt, the cliched storyline and atrocious screenplay of this flick will not make any heroine take up the challenge.

Actress Anushka Shetty and her 'Singam' co-star Suriya have collaborated with TeachAIDS campaign, which aims to spread awareness about the disease among children. She says she wishes to follow the cause closely. "I'm not much into social service and have never been associated with any programme," said Anushka. "One of the reasons I didn't get associated with any programme (yet is) because I usually don't follow it, but I wish to follow the AIDS awareness initiative religiously," added Anushka.

Actors Shruti Haasan and Siddharth are also a part of the campaign. Anushka along with other actors have featured in an animated awareness video on AIDS, which was unveiled recently. "I belong to a very conservative family like majority of others in this country and I know how we react to AIDS and sex education. We even consider talking about it a taboo not just in schools, but even in colleges. I'm sure programmes like these will create more awareness," said Anushka, who initially distanced herself from people afflicted with HIV.

"I was associated with two groups with AIDS many years ago and once when they offered me food, I refused to eat it because I felt uncomfortable and didn't have the awareness that it's safe to dine with them. Today, I don't feel the same because I have the knowledge," she added.
