Mamta Mohandas is an Indian film actress and playback singer. She has mainly acted in Malayalam films, besides few Telugu and Tamil productions and one Kannada film. She has won two Filmfare Awards, for Best Female Playback Singer in Telugu in 2006 and for Best Actress in Malalayam in 2010.
Mamta is a cancer survivor. She battled Hodgkin's lymphoma with positive energy and confidence. She had to cut her hair off for chemotherapy sessions. In some parts of her film Anwar, she managed to conceal the difference with wigs. Not many were aware of this situation until late 2010. Mamta got engaged on November 11, 2011 to Prajith Padmanabhan, a Bahrain based businessman, also her childhood friend. She got married on December 28, 2011 at Kozhikode. On December 12, 2012, the couple applied for a divorce. In April 2013, she had a relapse of the cancer and underwent treatment.
The Ernakulam Family Court on Monday granted divorce to actor Mamta Mohandas and Bahrain-based businessman Prajith Padmanabhan. The court allowed a mutual consent divorce plea. The duo submitted that there had been irreconcilable differences in their one-yearold marriage and they could no longer live together. Family court judge N. Leelamani considered the case and sent them for counselling. The couple then expressed their unwillingness to live together. Mamta and Prajith decided to move the court after finding that they couldn't take the marriage forward. However, they refrained from accusing or making allegations against each other.
Actress Singer Mamta Mohandas proved her talents more than once not so long ago, till she was bogged by her troubling marriage and a sudden diagnosis of Cancer. Mamta fought the disease bravely, and overcame her emotional turmoil. However, the sad news is that the lady is once again suffering with a relapse.
Mamta is currently undergoing the treatment once again and is quite bold and confident. She stated that this has only made her stronger. Speaking to a newspaper tabloid, she said, "Every setback in life will make you stronger. When i came to know about the cancer relapse, i was quite disappointed. However, i have come to terms with it and i am now mentally stronger than before". Tollywood could not see much of Mamta due to this and we sure hope that she will battle it all out and emerge a winner once again!
In 2012, Mamta starting working in television too, hosting the quiz show Kayyil Oru Kodi on Surya TV. But, later it was stopped. Mamta was the brand ambassador of Kochi International Fashion Week (KIWF) which was held from August 4 to 7. She is the brand ambassador along with actress Bhavana for team Kerala Strikers for the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) held in 2013, captained by Mohanlal, who is also one of the owners of the team, and vice-captain Indrajith.
Mamtha Mohandas is back to the glitz and glam of Tinsel town. We hear that in the upcoming movie title To Noor with love, the actress will team up with Krish Sathar, the son of Yester year actress Jayabharathi. Reportedly, the movie helmed by Anil of Anil- Babu duo will also see Kaniha, Mithra Kurian and Sekhar Menon (Da Thadiya) in the lead role.
The actress who made her debut in Hariharan's film Mayookham has acted in a number of Telugu, Tamil and Kannada movies. Unfortunately, the actress who was diagnosed with cancer in 2010, but later she successfully managed to overcome its effects and returned to the silver screen with a number of consecutive hits.
