Nayantara (born 18 November 1985 as Diana Mariam Kurian) is an Indian film actress, who appears in South Indian films. She made her acting debut in the 2003 Malayalam film Manassinakkare and followed with the successful Vismayathumbathu (2004) before foraying into Tamil and Telugu cinema.
She made her debut into Tamil cinema with Ayya (2005), and later that year appeared in the commercially successful Ghajini. She gained fame as a lead actress with films such as Chandramukhi (2005), Billa (2007), Yaaradi Nee Mohini (2008), Boss Engira Bhaskaran (2010) Raja Rani (2013) and Arrambam(2013) in particular, making herself one among the most sought after actresses in Tamil cinema.
She debuted in Telugu with Lakshmi (2006) and featured in the successful ventures like Tulasi (2007), Dubai Seenu (2007), Adurs (2010), Simha (2010) and later in 2010, made her Kannada film debut through the blockbuster Super. Her portrayal of Sita in Sri Rama Rajyam (2011) earned her Filmfare Award for Best Telugu Actress and Nandi Award for Best Actress.
Nayanthara who is riding high after the success of 'Raja Rani' and 'Arrambam' seems to be on cloud nine with more interesting films coming up. The sizzling actress, who has raised eyebrows pairing up with her ex-lover Simbu for a film directed by Pandiaraj, is currently romancing Udhayanidhi Stalin in Pollachi.
The shoot of SR Prabhakaran directed romantic comedy Idhu Kathirvelan Kadhal (IKK) starring Udhayanidhi Stalin and Nayanthara in the lead is almost complete with the unit now shooting the last song in the beautiful locations of Pollachi. Santhanam and Sundar Ramu play important roles along with Saranya and Chaya Singh in supporting roles.
Produced by Red Giant Movies, Nayanthara plays Pavithra a simple, middle-class girl while Udhayanidhi plays an unemployed man who goes to Madurai and falls in for Pavithra. Nayan will carry her de-glam look throughout the film and interestingly in the songs too. The music of the film is by Harris Jayaraj and camera is by Balasubramanian. IKK produced by Red Giants Movies is aiming at a January release.
After working together in Telugu films "Lakshmi" and "Telugu", actors Daggubati Venkatesh and Nayantara have teamed up for the third time for upcoming romantic-drama "Radha" in the same language.
"Nayanthara has been paired opposite Venkatesh in the film, which will be launched on Jan 16 next year," said a statement. "Maruthi will direct the film, a love story between a minister and a middle-class girl. Regular shooting starts from February end 2014," the statement added. "Radha" will be produced by D.V.V. Danayya.
