About Gurdwara Shri Hemkund / Hemkunt Sahib History

(Meditation Place of Guru Gobind Singh Ji)
Guru Gobind Singh Ji the Tenth Master in one of his great holy compositions entitled “Bachittar Natak” while giving a hint or pointing out this good site Hemkund Sahib or Hemkunt Sahib:

Ab mae apni katha bakhano.
(Now I narrate my own tale)

Hemkunt parbat hae jahan. Sapat sring sobhit hae tahan.
(Hemkunt Mountain is auspiciously situated among “Sapat Sring”, a mountain-chain of the Himalyas

Tah hum adhik tappasia saadhi.
(At that site I meditated heavily on God in the previous birth)

Tin prabh jab aais muhe dia. Tab ham janam kalloo meh lia.
(When the Almighty allowed me then I took birth in the dark age)

On the basis of the aforesaid holy composition uttered by Guru Sahib and with the Sikh Sangat’s assistance some Gursikhs (the true Sikhs) Sant Sohan Singh ji Tihri wale, Hawaldar Modan Singh ji, Bhai Vir Singh ji etc. started the research work of this holy place Hemkund Sahib. In Samvat Nanakshahi 465-66 (1933-34 A.D.) they on the dint of the Sikh Sangat’s assistance and the Guru’s kind grace were successful in reaching this holy place, Hemkund Sahib or Hemkunt Sahib. Roundabout Samvat Nanakshahi 468 (1936 A.D.) the Sikh Sangat got the Gurdwara Sahib constructed at Hemkund Sahib. The inauguration of the installation of Guru Granth Sahib ji was manifested in Samvat Nanakshahi 469 (August-Sep., 1937 A.D.)

Surrounded by the snow-ladden for about four to five months and sky-touching mountainous peaks this holy place Hemkund Sahib is situated approximately at the height of 15,000 feet from the sea level. At the climax of the winter season sometimes the snow-fall reaches even upto 30-35 feet. Hemkund Sahib is approximately at a distance of 35 to 40 kms from the border of China. On the three sides there are the seven peaks of the Sapatsring Mountain of the Hamkunt Mountain Chain (1. Rudar Himalaya 2. Bishanpuri 3. Udgari Kanth 4. Sarga Rohan 5. Brahampuri 6. Mer 7. Harley-Davidson Information And Wide Wallpapers

In 1901, William S. Harley, age 20, drew up plans for a small engine with a displacement of 7.07 cubic inches (116 cc) and four-inch (102 mm) flywheels. The engine was designed for use in a regular pedal-bicycle frame. Over the next two years, Harley and his childhood friend Arthur Davidson worked on their motor-bicycle using the northside Milwaukee machine shop at the home of their friend, Henry Melk. It was finished in 1903 with the help of Arthur's brother, Walter Davidson. Upon testing their power-cycle, Harley and the Davidson brothers found it unable to climb the hills around Milwaukee without pedal assistance. They quickly wrote off their first motor-bicycle as a valuable learning experiment.

Work immediately began on a new and improved second-generation machine. This first "real" Harley-Davidson motorcycle had a bigger engine of 24.74 cubic inches (405 cc) with 9.75 inches (25 cm) flywheels weighing 28 lb (13 kg). The machine's advanced loop-frame pattern was similar to the 1903 Milwaukee Merkel motorcycle (designed by Joseph Merkel, later of Flying Merkel fame). The bigger engine and loop-frame design took it out of the motorized bicycle category and marked the path to future motorcycle designs. The boys also received help with their bigger engine from outboard motor pioneer Ole Evinrude, who was then building gas engines of his own design for automotive use on Milwaukee's Lake Street.

Harley-Davidson launched its Street 750 at a price of Rs. 4.1 lakh on the first day of the 12th Auto Expo in Greater Noida on Wednesday. The bike will go on sale in India from March and will be available at all 13 distributors across the country. The company is coming out with a bike in the Street platform after 14 years. It will launch the 500cc version of the bike in a few months. The Street 750 was designed with the help of inputs from around 3,000 bikers from 10 different countries including Mumbai and Delhi. The Harley-Davidson Street 750 is India-made bike and is powered by a V-Twin 749cc liquid-cooled engine. This engine has a six-speed manual gearbox.

The Milwaukee Business Journal reports Harley-Davidson plans to bring back its Road Glide model — but it’s unclear when that will happen. During a recent earnings report call, Harley-Davidson Inc. chief financial officer and senior vice president John Olin said Harley will bring back the Road Glide, a tour bike that Milwaukee Harley-Davidson dealership owner Chaz Hastings is anxious to have back on his showroom floor. Olin said last July that the decision to discontinue the Road Glide was part of the company’s typical process of bringing models in and out of the lineup each year as it introduces new bikes. But, Olin explained during the call last week that the Road Glide represented 9 percent of its sales volume, and its customers are “incredibly loyal.”

Modern Harley-branded motorcycles fall into one of six model families: Touring, Softail, Dyna, Sportster, Vrod and Street. These model families are distinguished by the frame, engine, suspension, and other characteristics.

Ducati Bikes Wallpapers And News

In 1926 Antonio Cavalieri Ducati and his three sons, Adriano, Marcello, and Bruno Cavalieri Ducati; founded Società Scientifica Radio Brevetti Ducati in Bologna to produce vacuum tubes, condensers and other radio components, becoming successful enough, in 1935 he was able to construct a new factory in the Borgo Panigale area of the city. Production was maintained during World War II, despite the Ducati factory being a repeated target for Allied bombing.

Meanwhile, at the small Turinese firm SIATA (Societa Italiana per Applicazioni Tecniche Auto-Aviatorie), Aldo Farinelli began developing a small pushrod engine for mounting on bicycles. Barely a month after the official liberation of Italy in 1944, SIATA announced its intention to sell this engine, called the "Cucciolo" (Italian for "puppy," in reference to the distinctive exhaust sound) to the public. The first Cucciolos were available alone, to be mounted on standard bicycles, by the buyer; however, businessmen soon bought the little engines in quantity, and offered complete motorized-bicycle units for sale.

In 1950, after more than 200,000 Cucciolos had been sold, in collaboration with SIATA, the Ducati firm finally offered its own Cucciolo-based motorcycle. This first Ducati motorcycle was a 48 cc bike weighing 98 lb (44 kg) with a top speed of 40 mph (64 km/h) had a 15 mm carburetor giving just under 200 mpg-US (1.2 L/100 km; 240 mpg-imp). Ducati soon dropped the Cucciolo name in favor of "55M" and "65TL".

Crutchlow has joined Ducati this season after two years at Tech 3 Yamaha. Ducati last won a MotoGP race with Casey Stoner at Phillip Island in October 2010, and last put a rider on the podium when Valentino Rossi finished second at Misano in September '12. A Ducati statement said that this year's Desmosedici GP14 featured "revised aerodynamics, both in the front and rear fairings, in addition to improved rider ergonomics and more possibilities for chassis adjustment, as well as several new electronic solutions" compared to last year's GP13. But Crutchlow said few changes were evident on track after the first day of 2014 testing at Sepang on Tuesday.

When Valentino Rossi arrived at Ducati in 2011 most Ducati fans had high expectations of the pairing of the most passionate brand in motorcycle racing with the 9 times World champion.  As the excuses mounted and the results failed to come, many fans turned toxic blaming Rossi for Ducati’s woes. With the close of the 2013 MotoGP season last weekend in Valencia, we finally get some perspective on just how far behind Ducati is in the race for competitiveness and how  it wasn’t Rossi’s fault after all.

The mathematics is pretty simple.  Andrea Dovizioso finished his first depressing season with the factory Ducati squad on 140 points, one more than Rossi managed in 2011 and 23 less than his fellow Italian realised in 2012.  By contrast, although Valentino may have been disappointed that his return to Yamaha didn’t always put him up at the sharp end of the field, he scored 237 points this year to finish 4th in the title race behind the Spanish trio.

Motocross Racing Bikes Wallpapers And News

Motocross first evolved in the United Kingdom from motorcycle trials competitions, such as the Auto-Cycle Clubs's first quarterly trial in 1906 and the Scottish Six Days Trial that began in 1909. When delicate balancing and strict scoring of trials were dispensed with in favour of a race to be the fastest rider to the finish, it was called scrambles, said to have originated in the phrase, "a rare old scramble" describing one such early race. Originally known as scrambles racing in the United Kingdom, as the sport grew in popularity, the competitions became known internationally as motocross racing, by combining the French word for motorcycle, motocyclette, or moto for short, into a portmanteau with "cross country". The first known scramble race took place at Camberley, Surrey in 1924. During the 1930s, the sport grew in popularity, especially in Britain where teams from the Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA), Norton, Matchless, Rudge, and AJS competed in the events. Off-road bikes from that era differed little from those used on the street. The intense competition over rugged terrain led to technical improvements in motorcycles. Rigid frames gave way to suspensions by the early 1930s, and swinging fork rear suspension appeared by the early 1950s, several years before it was incorporated on the majority of production street bikes. The period after World War II was dominated by BSA which had become the largest motorcycle company in the world. BSA riders dominated international competitions throughout the 1940s.

As the competition intensified and the terrain increased in difficulty, the technology used for the design of competition and special-event motorcycles would improve, particularly with the introduction of the swinging arm suspension during the early 1950s. The international motorcycling governing body held the 500cc displacement formula European Championship in 1952 that was subsequently upgraded to World Championship status in 1957 followed by a 250cc equivalent in 1962 where two-stroke motorcycles began to make their mark in the industry.

Various companies throughout Europe from countries such as Sweden, Czechoslovakia and Britain thrived by creating models that became renowned for their lightness and maneuverability. The introduced improvements in motorcycles during the 1960s would relegate the older and heavier four-stroke machines to smaller, niche events.

It was during the 1980s that rapid technological enhancements in motocross would take place thanks to the innovation of companies from Japan. These included the creation of water-cooled machines as well as the monoshock rear suspension device. During the 1990s, new laws were introduced to ensure that the production of four-stroke motorcycles would adhere to environmentally conscious standards.

Motocross racing is one of the most visually appealing forms of motorsport, with riders performing seemingly death-defying leaps, turns visibly at the edge of traction (as indicated by a sliding, spinning rear tyre throwing dirt at all behind it), and the effort of riders clearly visible as the move their bodies around their motorcycles to balance the bikes for maximum speed. Capitalising on this appeal, two variants called supercross and arenacross have evolved, held on tighter tracks in sports stadiums (even indoors) with more, even higher jumps. Freestyle motocross, a relatively new sport, shuns racing and concentrates on performing acrobatic stunts while jumping these motorcycles.

Lamborghini Car Features And Desktop Wallpapers

Ferruccio Lamborghini, the man who would found Automobili Ferruccio Lamborghini S.p.A. in 1963, was the child of viticulturists living in Renazzo di Cento, Province of Ferrara, in the Northern Italy's Emilia-Romagna region. After serving as a mechanic in the Italian Royal Air Force during World War II, Lamborghini went into business building tractors based on surplus WWII military hardware. By the mid-1950s, Lamborghini's tractor company, Lamborghini Trattori S.p.A., had become one of the largest agricultural equipment manufacturers in the country. He was also the owner of a successful gas heater and air conditioning manufacturer.

Lamborghini's wealth allowed him to cultivate a childhood interest in cars, owning a number of luxury automobiles including Alfa Romeos, Lancias, Maseratis, and a Mercedes-Benz. He purchased his first Ferrari, a 250GT, in 1958, and went on to own several more. Lamborghini was fond of the Ferraris, but considered them too noisy and rough to be proper road cars, likening them to repurposed track cars. When Lamborghini discovered that the clutch on his Ferrari was broken, and was actually the same clutch that he used on his tractors, Lamborghini went to Ferrari and asked for a better replacement. Ferrari responded, saying that he was just a tractor maker, and could not know anything about sports cars. Lamborghini decided to pursue an automobile manufacturing venture with the goal of bringing to life his vision of a perfect grand tourer.

“Magnifico” means Magnificent in Italy perhaps this is exactly the word that you will utter when you take a look at it; it is absolutely flawless and meant for pure fun and is definitely not for the faint hearted. Yes! I am talking about the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster. This beast has really set its standard quite high in the world of open-top luxury super sports cars. Launched at the end of the year 2012 this has definitely marked its arrival but if you are looking for a practical car then this is definitely not for you because this car is an absolute hooligan. The Aventador Roadster is the open top version of the mighty Aventador Coupe which too has marked its grand arrival in the year 2011 and according to Lamborghini it juggles ultimate driving experience with the ultimate in sports car sophistication quite efficiently.

In 1978 the company declared bankruptcy. An Italian court was appointed to find a buyer.  A Swiss based group called the Mimran brother's were able to save the factory. Patrick Mimran (one of the brothers),  in 1980 started to turn the company around. The Countach was developed further under him from the LP500 S right up to the impressive QuattroValvole. Just as things were going well, the Mimran brothers sold the company to Chrysler Corporation.  This was a big surprise at the time.  Chrysler support however was just what the company needed at that time. They were working on a Countach successor --  the Diablo. Chrysler kept the winning team together in Italy. While the cultures of the two companies were different and things got stressful between the management groups, they did succeed in bringing the vast resources of Chrysler to bear on the  design, pollution controls, and new manufacturing techniques etc. for the new car.

Ferrari Cars Overview And Desktop Wallpapers

Ferrari S.p.A. is an Italian sports car manufacturer based in Maranello. Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929, as Scuderia Ferrari, the company sponsored drivers and manufactured race cars before moving into production of street-legal vehicles as Ferrari S.p.A. in 1947. Fiat acquired 50% of Ferrari in 1969 and expanded its stake to 85% in 2008, which it still holds. Throughout its history, the company has been noted for its continued participation in racing, especially in Formula One, where it has had great success. Ferrari road cars are generally seen as a symbol of speed, luxury and wealth.

Enzo Ferrari was not initially interested in the idea of producing road cars when he formed Scuderia Ferrari (literally "Ferrari Stable", and usually used to mean "Team Ferrari", it is correctly pronounced [skudeˈriːa]) in 1928 as a sponsor for amateur drivers headquartered in Modena. Ferrari prepared, and successfully raced, various drivers in Alfa Romeo cars until 1938, when he was hired by Alfa Romeo to head their motor racing department.

The first Ferrari road car was the 1947 125 S, powered by a 1.5 L V12 engine; Enzo Ferrari reluctantly built and sold his automobiles to fund Scuderia Ferrari. The 458 Italia is Ferrari's two-seat, mid-rear engine exotic sport coupe, the result of an uncompromising design approach that integrates style and passion with cutting-edge, track-derived technology. It was designed for owners whose priority is on-road performance with occasional track day capability, but who still demand a car that is useable in day-to-day driving.

The 458 Spider's 570-horsepower direct-injected 4.5-liter V8 engine sends power through 7-speed dual clutch transmission with F1-style steering column-mounted shift paddles that allow for extremely quick gear changes. The standard E-Diff3 is an electronic limited-slip rear differential that varies the distribution of torque based on inputs such as steering angle and lateral acceleration. Brembo brakes featuring carbon-ceramic material discs as standard. Magnetic fluid-filled shock absorbers react instantly to road conditions and driver inputs. A switch on the steering wheel, called a manettino, integrates suspension, traction control, stability control and shifter systems and allows the driver to choose the optimum setting for current conditions. The standard 6-disc CD/MP3 stereo features a 30-gigabyte hard drive and Bluetooth wireless connectivity. Options include carbon fiber interior and exterior trim, adaptive headlights, navigation system, premium JBL 1000-watt audio system, reverse camera, and front and rear parking sensors. A wide range of interior and exterior colors are available.

The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, with an all-aluminum chassis and body, brings F1 racing technology and performance to the road. The 599 GTB Fiorano strikes a balance between sport and luxury with high-quality leather trim tastefully combined with high-tech carbon-fiber and aluminum details. This Italian exotic grand touring sports coupe?s 6.0-liter V12 engine makes 612 hp and 448 lbs-ft of torque. Two transmissions are available: a 6-speed manual, or a 6-speed automated manual with F1 Superfast steering column-mounted shift paddles that allow for extremely quick gear changes. A switch on the steering wheel, called a manettino, integrates suspension, traction control, stability control and shifter systems and allows the driver to choose the optimum setting for current conditions.

Magnetic fluid-filled shock absorbers react instantly to road conditions and driver inputs. Options include carbon fiber interior trim, Recaro sport seats, Bose sound system, parking sensors and navigation system. The HGTE Package includes exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels, race-compound performance tires, two-tone leather seat trim with black Alcantara inserts, carbon fiber interior trim, re-tuned springs, larger rear anti-roll bar, new calibration settings for the magnetic fluid-filled shock absorbers, race-oriented electronic suspension settings, lower ride-height, matte-black rear diffuser, re-tuned transmission and engine software, and modified exhaust with chrome tailpipes. The 2011 599 GTB Fiorano carries over from 2010.

Know About Bentley Cars And Download HD Wallpapers

Before World War I in Cricklewood near London, Walter Owen Bentley had been in partnership with his brother Horace Millner Bentley selling French DFP cars, but he had always wanted to design and build his own range of cars bearing his name. In August 1919, Bentley Motors Ltd. was registered, and a chassis with dummy engine was exhibited at the London Motor Show in October of that year. An innovative 4 valves per cylinder engine designed by ex–Royal Flying Corps officer Clive Gallop was built and running by December, and orders were taken for deliveries starting in June 1920; however, development took longer than estimated, and the first cars were not ready until September 1921. Their durability earned widespread acclaim. Appearances were made in hill climbs and at Brooklands.

Bentley has launched the new Flying Spur luxury sedan for the Indian market, at an event held in New Delhi at Exclusive Motors, the official dealers of Bentley in India. The car is launched at a base price of Rs. 3.10 cr ex showroom New Delhi. Bentley claims the Flying Spur to be the fastest road-going luxury four door sedan in the world, powered by a 6.0-litre, twin turbo W12 engine.  It develops 625 PS and an earth churning 800 Nm of torque, sprinting from 0-100 kph in just 4.6 seconds and on to a top whack of 322kph. All that power is channeled through the transmission to all the four wheels via the all-wheel drive system. With a standard torque split of 60 per cent to the rear wheels and 40 per cent to the front, the Flying Spur has the ability to vary this division up to 85 per cent to the rear axle or 65 per cent to the front depending on available traction. The Bentley also has an independent computer-controlled air suspension which helps absorb almost every bump on the road.

Building on a record sales year in 2013, Bentley is planning to woo its largest market with the introduction of more powerful Continental GTs in the USA.  The Continental GT V8 S and GTC V8 S (Coupe and Convertible) will dish out more power from their 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engines. That’s 528PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 680Nm of torque at 1,700 rpm, 21 PS of power and 20Nm of torque more than the ‘standard’ V8. The S models also sit lower and have uprated suspension.

The S coupe can accelerate to 100kph from zero in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 309Kmph. It sits in between the Continental range with the standard V8 models on one side and the range topping 625PS W12 6.0-litre Continental GT Speed on the others. The Continental is mated to ZF’s 8-speed automatic transmission.

   Bentley Drivers Club
Bentleys are built to be driven. So it’s hardly surprising to learn that the largest and most famous group of Bentley enthusiasts is The Bentley Drivers Club. Appropriately enough, the first members were Bentley drivers attending a race at the legendary Brooklands track in Surrey in 1936, canvassed by a note placed under their windscreens by one G.K. Pelmore. The first meeting was over-subscribed; a bigger venue had to be found at the last minute. Since then the Bentley Drivers Club has gone from strength to strength, with branches from Dallas to Tokyo and from Cape Town to Canberra. The Club organises a number of social and competitive events, and provides specialist services for owners of Cricklewood-, Derby- and Crewe-built Bentleys. The BDC is now the focus of a world-wide Federation of Bentley Clubs and welcomes new members.

Hyper Cars Wide Wallpapers And Information

In 1994, the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) founded the Hypercar Center to help prove its technical feasibility and commercial reality. The concept was placed in the public domain to maximize competition in capturing its market and manufacturing advantages. In 1999, RMI took this process a step further by launching a for-profit venture, Hypercar Inc. This independent company, in which RMI has a minority interest, is now taking the lead in advancing key areas of Hypercar research and development. In 2004, Hypercar Inc. changed its name to Fiberforge to better reflect the company's new goal of lowering the cost of high-volume advanced-composite structures by leveraging the patents of David F. Taggart, one of the founders of Hypercar, Inc.

People like energy policy expert Amory Lovins, designers at a company called Fiberforge and even automotive engineers at Volkswagen have been hard at work trying to create cars that are incredibly light and ultra efficient. The result: hypercars. With advanced materials and alternative fuel systems, hypercars don't have to sacrifice safety, performance or luxury in the name of fuel efficiency.

If you think automotive technology is ready to evolve after staying basically the same for the last 50 years, then this article will explain why you might be right. Instead of steel-framed multi-ton vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, we're going to show you cars made of carbon-composite materials that are lighter and stronger than steel, with sleek aerodynamic shapes and incredibly efficient engines. In fact, some of these cars are so efficient that you could plug them in and return power to the grid for a discount on your electric bill. This isn't just pie in the sky futurism, either. We'll show you some hypercars that are on the road today.

A wide variety of measurements and terms are used to describe road vehicle efficiency. "Fuel economy", "fuel consumption" all purport to measure how efficiently a vehicle uses energy under some standardized conditions. In the U.S. and U.K., the typical measurement is miles per gallon. On the European continent liters per hundred kilometers is common. A different measurement of watt-hours per mile or kilometer is commonly used for electric vehicles including fuel cell electric vehicles. However watt-hours per distance is also well-suited to describing the energy efficiency of internal combustion vehicles, and it allows meaningful comparisons across vehicles with different types of propulsion and energy sources. In the calculations below a U.S. gallon of gasoline is standardized to contain 36,650 watt-hours of energy, and there are 3.78 liters per gallon. (So there are nearly 10 kWh per liter of gasoline.) Internal combustion engines typically waste about 80% of the energy in their fuel as useless heat.

Hypercars use some of the same technology found on modern race cars to create safety cells that make difficult crashes survivable. GM's Ultralite met all corporate and government crash standards thanks to advanced carbon fiber composite sandwich construction also found in high-performance aircraft. Hypercars can use some of the same technology that helps race car drivers survive crashes such as the use of carbon fiber, Kevlar, Aluminum honeycomb, and other advanced materials and design techniques.

Supercars rely on older technology and ideas such as large engines to produce high performance at the expense of comfort, convenience, efficiency, weight and cost. In contrast, hypercars offer high performance with far greater efficiency through the use of advanced materials, superior aerodynamics, and technologies such as regenerative braking, electric power and hybrid drivetrains.

Turkey Pamukkale HD Wallpapers And Information

Pamukkale, meaning "cotton castle" in Turkish, is a natural site in Denizli Province in southwestern Turkey. The city contains hot springs and travertines, terraces of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water. It is located in Turkey's Inner Aegean region, in the River Menderes valley, which has a temperate climate for most of the year.

Tourism is and has been a major industry. People have bathed in its pools for thousands of years. As recently as the mid-20th century, hotels were built over the ruins of Hierapolis, causing considerable damage. An approach road was built from the valley over the terraces, and motor bikes were allowed to go up and down the slopes. When the area was declared a World Heritage Site, the hotels were demolished and the road removed and replaced with artificial pools. Wearing shoes in the water is prohibited to protect the deposits.

The travertine features have their origins in the shifting of a fault in the valley of the Menderes river (between here and Denizli). As the fault shifted, very hot springs with a very high mineral content (notably chalk) arose at this location. Apart from the slightly radioactive minerals, the calcium and hydrogen carbonate react to create calcium carbonate (also known as travertine) and limestone. This is what gives Pamukkale its whiteness and created the pools.

It can get quite hot in summer, a hat and especially sunglasses will certainly be very helpful against the sun and the reflecting sun rays from the chalky cascades. On the other hand, the cold winter climate could make the experience slightly uncomfortable. Climbing up the cascades barefoot, with cold water running downstream will be a tough task.

As mineral rich water from the natural hot springs in the area flow, it leaves behind white travertines, terraces made of carbonate minerals. The pools of water contained within these terraces look like they were sitting on top of white, fluffy cotton bowls. Shoes are not allowed on the travertine and the guards in the area are very anal about it. Shrills of whistles were heard almost constantly. This is how they maintain the white color of the travertine despite the thousands of feet stepping on it on a daily basis.
